In order that the international students of Suzhou Polytechnic Institute of Agriculture could know the long history and profundity of the traditional Chinese culture, on the afternoon of May 16, 2019, the Faculty of International Education organized eight international students and Laura, a New Zealand volunteer, led by Fan Wenqiong, a TCSL teacher, came to the Dongshan Campus of our institute to join in the experience activity of traditional Chinese flower arrangement culture organized by the institute.

On the day of the activity, after introducing the basic information of the Dongshan Campus to the international students, Deputy Director Dai Peipei of the Office of the Institute showed them around the International Floriculture Exchange Center and the Dongshan Student Practice Base. In order that the eight international students could more personally experience the artistic atmosphere of the traditional Chinese flower arrangements, the professional teacher integrated theory and practice and introduced to the international students the art from the perspectives of the styles and characteristics of the traditional Chinese flower arrangements, the classification and characteristics of vases and the basic designs of flower arrangements. Afterwards, Jin Limin led the international students and the volunteers to make flower arrangements by hand.

The international students said that the cultural experience activity was quite significant. They could know Chinese culture better through practice by hand and personal experience and feel the unique glamour of the Chinese culture. They said they would study harder in the future, boost their language proficiency and professional competence, strive to know more about China and treat China as a friend, and contribute to popularizing the fine Chinese culture to the world.
