Hold Skills Competitions to Improve Professional Skill - The College of Horticultural Science & Technology Held the Chinese Tea Art Skills Competition

To implement the Decision of the State Council on Accelerating the Development of Modern Vocational Education, constantly improve students' practical ability and innovation ability and show professional teaching achievements, the College replaces training with competitions, promotes evaluation through competitions and fully demonstrates our tea art features and promotes tea culture through tea art exhibition, tea fun finding, tea art game and tea fragrance competition. According to the arrangement of Notice on Launching the "Skills Competition Month for College Students in the 2020-2021-2 Semester in the College, the Leisure Agriculture Teaching and Research Office of the College of Horticultural Science & Technology held the Chinese tea art skills competition at the Tea Culture Promotion Center of Dongshan Campus from November 10 to November 29, 2021. Associate Professor Zhou Ying, Associate Professor Jin Limin and Associate Professor Zhang Yanping at the College of Horticultural Science & Technology were invited to serve as judges.

This competition motivated more than 150 students from 6 classes of 2 specialties of the College of Horticultural Science & Technology to participate. 39 students reached the final upon the preliminary contest. According to the competition process and competition event scoring rules in the 2021 College Student Skills "Chinese Tea Art" Competition Event Regulations of Suzhou Polytechnic Institute of Agriculture, a total of 4 first prizes, 6 second prizes and 12 third prizes were selected.

Hold on to ingenuity and enable each piece of tea to speak. During the competition, the teacher of the Tea Art Foundation course regarded the skills competition as the starting point, fully integrated the competition with the professional knowledge and professional skills of the course, reflecting the integration of the skills competition and the course teaching. On the one hand, this competition improved the contestants' practical level and tea appreciation ability; on the other hand, it fully stimulated students' learning interest, enriched the course teaching, and played a positive role in the expansion of occupational employment. This competition further promoted the optimization and promotion of tea art foundation course for leisure agriculture specialty, and cultivation of high-quality and high-skilled agricultural talents who can adapt to the development of modern agriculture and serve "agriculture, rural areas and rural residents".
