On the morning of September 25, the 6th General Assembly of Jiangsu International Association of Agricultural Exchanges was held in the International Exchange Center of our institute with the attendance of up to 60 participants from agricultural science research institutes, agricultural universities, agricultural public institutions and agricultural corporate members, such as the Foreign Agricultural Cooperation and Exchange Center of Jiangsu Province, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Nanjing Agricultural University. Deputy Director Zhu Pinjun of the Division of Foreign Exchange and Cooperation of the Department of Agricultural and Rural Affairs of Jiangsu Province attended the meeting and gave a speech.

Deputy Director Zhu Pinjun congratulated on the successful opening of the assembly, fully affirmed the achievements of the previous council and conveyed thanks for the positive contributions of all the corporate members. Zhu Pinjun pointed out that, with the in-depth development of economic globalization, the role of international exchanges in agricultural industrial revolution was becoming increasingly prominent and the scope and domain of international exchanges and cooperation in agriculture were becoming increasingly extensive. Jiangsu International Association of Agricultural Exchanges, as a professional social organization engaged in international exchanges and cooperation in agricultural science and technology, is going to accomplish much. It is hoped that the association will, under the leadership of the new council, be devoted to more extensive, higher-level and deeper international exchanges and cooperation in agriculture, escalate the agricultural reform and development of Jiangsu to a new high and deliver greater contributions to the better and faster development of agriculture in Jiangsu and the construction of “New Jiangsu with strong economy, rich people, beautiful environment and high social civilization”.

The assembly listened to the report of the 5th council on the work, finance, constitution (revised manuscript) and the method of general election and elected the directors of the 6th council and the members of the leading organ of the council. The council unanimously agreed to appoint Secretary Li Zhenlu of the Party Committee of our institute as the chairman of the 6th council of the association, 12 people including Ding Tao, Wei Wei and Mao Anyuan as vice chairmen, Director You Weizhong of Jiangsu Taihu Evergreen Fruit Tree Technology Promotion Center as the secretary general, Deputy Director Shi Jixin of Foreign Agricultural Cooperation and Exchange Center of Jiangsu Province, Office Director Geng Xiaodong of the institute and Dean Jiang Bingkun of the Faculty of International Education as deputy secretaries general and Deputy Director Chen Dihui of the Agricultural Publicity, Education, Culture and Sports Center of Jiangsu Province as the supervisor.

Finally, Chairman Li Zhenlu of the council put forth four points of view about the future development of the association: First, serve the “Belt and Road” Initiative and promote the high-quality development of international cooperation in agriculture of Jiangsu Province; second, bring forth new ideas to the working mechanism and cope with the new trend and challenges of foreign exchanges of and cooperation in agriculture; third, improve the service level, further promote the growth of export-oriented economy and promote produce export trade; fourth, gather the resources of the institute and enterprises, cultivate and export skilled peasants to the international community and expedite international exchanges and cooperation in agricultural vocational education.

The assembly was presided over by Vice President Kong Tingting of the institute.
