A new Spring Festival tiptoed. On the occasion of the Spring Festival of 2022, the Faculty of International Education organized a series of activities in which five international students on campus who hadn’t returned home for more than two years due to the COVID-19 epidemic felt the strong Spring Festival atmosphere in China.

Recently, the Faculty of International Education together with the Xiyuan Community, Huqiu Sub-district, Suzhou delivered their best wishes to the international students on campus for the Spring Festival. The faculty and the community adopted the favorite form of the young people, dropped in and delivered “mystery boxes of the New Year’s Eve dinner” to them. Each mystery box contained various pastries, food and dishes which were heartwarming and good for the stomach.

The Faculty of International Education contacted with the Party and the Masses Service Center of the Guanjing Community and invited the international students of our institute to participate in the “New Suzhou-style Reunion” New Year’s Eve Dinner activity in the community. The residents of the community took there the dishes cooked at their own home such as honeydew vegetarian “chicken”, candied lotus root, lamb cake and eight-treasure rice pudding. The community invited the master of Suzhou-style cuisine to cook traditional Suzhou-style dishes on spot, such as sweet and sour mandarin fish and Suzhou-style chafing dish. After the dinner, the residents and the international students jointly cooked Suzhou-style pastry. The lively atmosphere defused their homesickness and gave them a Suzhou-style reunion on the New Year’s eve.

On the New Year’s eve, the leaders in charge of the Office of Student Affairs, the Office of Foreign Affairs and the Faculty of International Education and the administrative staff in charge of the international students, led by the leader on duty, Dean You Weizhong of the Faculty of Horticultural Science and Technology, came to the dormitories of the international students, delivered them easements and conveyed greetings and best wishes on behalf of the institute in hopes that they could enjoy a harmonious and substantial New Year of Tiger.
