Faculty of Landscape Engineering

The Faculty of Landscape Engineering dates back to the art department of the Second Agricultural School of Jiangsu Province in 1912. After a hundred years of construction and development, it has cultivated thousands of gardening talents represented by Zhang Shouyu, a master of gardening design, Su Xuehen, a well-known expert in China. Those graduates have made outstanding contributions to China's agricultural vocational education and landscaping field.

The faculty has a long history, advantageous location, good connotation, prosperous employment rate and professional teachers, and is known as "the birthplace of China's modern horticulture and gardening vocational education". It has achieved remarkable results in subject construction and fruitful achievement in talents cultivation. The faculty has more than 60 full-time and part-time teachers, with more than 80% of them possessing master’s degree and above, and 95% of them possessing the qualification in both professional training and teaching.

In recent years, relying on the high-end national "Flower-Expo", "China-Green Expo", "Garden Flower Expo" and other high-end platforms, the scientific and technological team of teachers and students of the school has built the "China Garden" and "Jiangsu Garden" on behalf of China and Jiangsu Province and has repeatedly won the highest awards at home and abroad. In the national and provincial competitions, the teachers of the faculty have won three first prizes in the National Vocational College Information Teaching Competition, five first prizes and two third prizes in Jiangsu Provincial Higher Vocational College Information Teaching Competition, two first prizes in Jiangsu Provincial Micro-Lecture Competition, three first prizes in the National Curriculum Design Competition. The students have won four first prizes in the "landscape design" project of the vocational group of the National Vocational College Skills Competition, one first prize and one second prize in the "landscape design" project of the State Forestry Administration, five first prizes in the "landscape design" project of the vocational group of the Jiangsu Provincial Vocational College Skills Competition, and one gold medal in the vocational group of the 6th International Landscape Design Competition (Idea-king Award).

The developed countries in Europe and America have been in the leading position in the gardening industry. It is estimated that in the next 5-10 years, the sunrise industry of gardening will develop rapidly in China with an annual growth rate of about 25-30%. The faculty starts with the combination of work and study, meets the demand of the market and specific occupation, and has established close relationships with more than 100 enterprises, building a solid foundation and platform for students to practice their skills during their internship, graduate practice and employment. Students can obtain a number of professional skills certificate and employment rate is as high as 98.5%.
